Portfolio Overlap (4)   24-Jul-08 11:48Tracked by (1)
Posted by:   Guest on ( 24-Jul-08 11:48 )
Hello,

I am 71 and have 5 core funds, and I add thru SIP's too.

Birla Sunlife equity
SBI Magnum Contra
Reliance Growth
Reliance Vision
Sundaram Midcap

and 3 Sector funds
ICICI prudential and UTI Infrastructure and Sundaram Paribas Energy opportunities fund(closed ended)

My Asset allocation
Giant/Large Cap - 50%
Midcap - 35%
Small Cap - 9%
Other - 6%

My question is two fold,

Hopefully my time horizon for this investments is above 5 years.

Do I need to add a debt fund to my core fund group? If so, What factors do I need to look at choosing a debt fund? I don't have the need for supplemental income from my investments at this time.

I am thinking of investing in banking sector fund, the question is , would there be any portfolio overlap between my core funds and Banking sector fund. If so, how would I know?

or

Will I be better off investing the same in my core fund group and stay away from the banking sector fund.

Thanks in advance
K.V Balakrishnan - Chennai
